On Thursday, July 18, NanoQuine held the 16th Photonics Innovation (PI) Seminar on the theme of “Latest Trends in Heterogeneous Material Integration Photonics and Nanostructured Phonon Engineering” in the main conference room of the Institute of Industrial Science. Dr. Shinji Matsuo, Senior Distinguished Researcher, NTT Device Technology Laboratories, gave a lecture entitled “New developments in silicon photonics by integrating heterogenious materials of compound semiconductors”, and Dr. Masahiro Nomura, Associate Professor, Institute of Industrial Science, gave a lecture entitled “From photonics to phononics: using nanostructures to control heat flow with high precision”. Both lectures were in relatively new fields, such as optical circuits on silicon substrates and new heat conduction control using nanostructures, and we felt passionate about developing new fields.
